 | Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion/R2 (2006) Genres: Action, Drama, Psychological, Sci-Fi, Supernatural Episodes: 25/25 Description: Japan has been invaded and conquered by the Britannian Empire. Japan is now known as 'Area 11' and its citizens known as 'Elevens'. The Britannian Empire takes away Japan's autonomous power and imposes its rule through the use of 'Nightmares/Knightmares'. The Empire's rule has never faltered, but cracks have begun to show... Note: I ended up watching both Code Geass and Code Geass R2 before writing this, so it contains opinions on both. Thoughts: Really well done, the characters were good, and the show did not slip into the depression and "darkness" that I originally expected. Rather it continued the story, not focusing on the awful events the way some shows do. As well, I liked that the main character has mainly normal allies, not a small group of super-elite guys that can all take out an army by themselves. I enjoyed it, although thinking about what is happening can make it somewhat depressing. Rating: Story: 4/5 The story was interesting, and the ending was good. Animation: 4/5 Well done, the knightmares and Geass were really good. Action: 4/5 Decent amounts of action, mostly in a war-type scenario. Comedy: 3/5 Decent comedy, and surprisingly light-hearted tones for the most part. |
