All reviews I write will include a description and my thoughts on the show, as well as a rank and a link. Ranking will be done as x/5 for four elements-Story, Animation, Action, and Comedy. Story and animation ranks will be based on the quality of the story, but the action and comedy ranks are based on focus/importance, as well as quality. This is to avoid confusion (ex. Serious anime with funny moments will get a low comedic rank, rather than a high one for a few bits of good comedy, and people won't mistake a more serious show for a comedic one). I will also have a short reasoning for each, and will add anything I feel these bases don't cover (Romance, Mystery, etc...). I quite likely won't do a lot of criticizing the shows, as I usually enjoy them too much to remember bad things.

Latest Review:

Sword Art Online (2012)

Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Romance

Episodes: 25

Description: The players of a virtual reality MMORPG, Sword Art Online, are trapped and fighting for their very lives. After it is announced that the only way to leave the game is by beating it, Kirito—a very powerful swordsman—and his friends take on a quest to free all the minds trapped in Aincrad.

Thoughts: For the first "part," I really enjoyed it. My thoughts on the second "part" I'll write below (Spoilers!). Anyways, just for general topics, It had pretty nice world designs, decent characters, concepts that I fell in love with, and was just overall really enjoyable. However, there were quite a few weak points, which I'll discuss some of below.

Rating:

Story: 2/5 The first half or so of the story was good, but the second half dragged it down.

Animation: 5/5 The animation was probably the best part, everything looked really good.

Action: 4/5 Lots of fighting, which looks great.

Comedy: 2/5 Despite having a fairly dark story, it kept up a light tone, but still wasn't really funny.

Thoughts Continued (Spoilers): The second half, from episode 15 and onwards, had a dramatic story change, changed the female lead, turned the strong female character that I liked into a fairy tail princess, and just spoiled most of what the first 14 episodes created. The main character becomes a knight in shining armor and the sister (who is the new lead), brings in a creepy, incest-y situation which made me really uncomfortable. The second part really can't live up to the standard the first part sets, so much so I'd suggest stopping watching at episode 14 if you like the show.
