Genres: Action, Drama, Supernatural

Description:

Naruto: Naruto closely follows the life of a boy who is feared and detested by the villagers of the hidden leaf village of Konoha. The distrust of the boy has little to do with the boy himself, but it's what's inside him that causes anxiety. Long before Naruto came to be, a Kyuubi (demon fox) with great fury and power waged war taking many lives. The battle ensued for a long time until a man known as the Fourth Hokage, Yondaime, the strongest ninja in Konoha, fiercely fought the Kyuubi. The fight was soon won by Yondaime as he sealed the evil demon in a human body. Thus the boy, Naruto, was born. As Naruto grows he decides to become the strongest ninja in Konoha in an effort to show everyone that he is not as they perceive him to be, but is a human being worthy of love and admiration. But the road to becoming Hokage, the title for the strongest ninja in Konoha, is a long and arduous one. It is a path filled with betrayal, pain, and loss; but with hard work, Naruto may achieve Hokage.

Naruto Shippuden: The second incarnation of the very popular NARUTO anime. It covers Part II of the manga storyline which takes place two years after Part I (which ends with the Sasuke Retrieval arc, episodes 107-135 of the first TV series). The anime chronology differs from the manga as the Shippuuden series happens two and a half years after the end of the first Naruto series. The story revolves mainly around Uzumaki Naruto's and Haruno Sakura's new adventures and their search for Uchiha Sasuke after he left Konoha-gakure (Leaf Village) to gain Orochimaru's power. The plot also shows a more active Akatsuki in their quest for obtaining all the tailed beasts. After his failed attempt to retrieve Sasuke, Naruto learns that circumstances have granted him slightly less than three years to prepare for a confrontation with Orochimaru, who has to wait that much time before he can transfer into Sasuke's body. Naruto also must prepare for his eventual confrontation with Akatsuki, who are after the demon sealed within him. To prepare, Naruto leaves the village and undergoes intensive training under Jiraiya. At the same time, Sakura becomes Tsunade's apprentice, and Sasuke trains under Orochimaru. Thus, all three members of the original Team 7 are now training under one of the Legendary Sannin.

Note: I am putting Naruto and Shippuden into one review, and this is because they are the same story, despite being different series. Most of the defining traits are the same, and so forth. So from here on I shall refer to both series as a whole under the term Naruto.

Thoughts: Naruto is defined by the fights, and the three technique types that make up the battles. 1. Taijutsu-Martial arts and such physical combat. 2. Ninjutsu-Supernatural abilities the characters use, which are diverse in nature. 3. Genjutsu-The casting of illusions. Most people watch it for the fights, or so I would say. Warning, Its loooonnnngggg, and there's a lot of filler. I would suggest reading the manga to avoid the filler.

Ranking:

Story: 3/5 The story is interesting, but often just build-up to battles.

Animation: 5/5 Nothing wrong with the animation, I like it.

Action: 4/5 Lots of fighting.

Comedy: 3/5 The show can be funny, but feels really heavy, especially as you get farther in.
