 | The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (2006) Genres: Comedy, Sci-fi, Slice-of-life, Supernatural Episodes: 28 Description: Suzumiya Haruhi is a good-looking high school girl who has a clear head, naughty personality, and very egocentric thought. She has an unimaginably tremendous power to change the world, but she is totally unaware of her own power and so she is also unaware of the affect of her power on the outside world. A delightfully strange, yet marvellously interesting story! Thoughts: Delightfully entertaining, fairly interesting, and great comedy, I loved this show. I'm quite sad to see it end, as it was really enjoyable to watch. The characters were good, the story was decent, except that I got tired of the "Endless Eight," a set of eight episodes from the second season. However, there was one thing that I didn't like about it, which was that about the first half of the show seemed like setup for a romance, which I'm not going to go into whether or not it would have been good, but then they just kind of dropped it. Most of the first season episodes and some second season episodes seemed to be building for it, but it never happened. Ranking: Story: 3/5 It was all episodic, there is originally an overarching story, but it doesn't have a clear goal, and it kind of gets dropped part way through. Animation: 4/5 The animation was all good. Action: 2/5 Not full of fights, but there was some action. Comedy: 4/5 The comedy was excellent, although maybe not for everyone.
