 | Kenichi The Mightiest Disciple (2006) Genres: Action, Comedy, Romance, Tournament Episodes: 50 Description: Shirahama Ken'ichi is an average student who has earned the nickname "Weak Legs" from always getting bullied. One day he meets a cute girl named Fuurinji Miu who helps him build the courage to begin training at a mysterious dojo where she lives. Here Kenichi faces intense training from masters of many different martial arts styles as he attempts to become stronger. Thoughts: It followed your basic fighting anime recipe. Some good training episodes and opponents of increasing strength. But although it was following a system I've seen before multiple times, it was a good show, despite being a bit cheesy. It was lighthearted and fun to watch, and the masters were quite interesting characters, including my favorite character, Apachai! Ranking: Story: 3/5 Pretty basic, but it had some interesting elements. Definitely was left open-ended. Animation: 4/5 Everything looked pretty good, there were a few patchy spots. Action: 4/5 Lots of fighting, but pretty well done, so it didn't really get boring. Comedy: 3/5 Plenty of laughs and a generally lighthearted feel to the entire series.
