![]() | Vandread (2000) Genres: Action, Mecha, Sci-fi Episodes: 13 Description: In a universe where men and women are mortal enemies, Hibiki is captured by a band of female pirates. The group find themselves stranded with a super ship they dub the Nirvana and set out for the female home planet. Along the way, they discover the existence of the "The Harvest" and the possible destruction of both men and women. Thoughts: I have to say that the show is really well done, they set up the men and women not knowing anything about each other, and then actually took advantage of that, rather than forgetting about it, as I've seen in other similar scenarios. The Nirvana, Vanguards, and Dreads look kind of CG, but if they are it's well done, and I forgot about it rather quickly, as it merged with the style well. Ranking: Story: 4/5 Creative, and takes advantage of the set-up at the beginning, unlike some others. The ending is set up for the second season, which fortunately was made. Animation: 4/5 Every looks pretty good. Action: 4/5 There's lots of space battles, which are well done. Comedy: 4/5 Plenty of comedy and a lighthearted tone. |
